Water ring pumps were initially used as self-priming pumps, and gradually became used in many industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, machinery, mining, light industry, medicine, and food. Due to the rapid development of vacuum application technology, water ring pumps can extract flammable and explosive gases, as the gas compression in water ring pumps is isothermal. In addition, they can also extract gases containing dust and water. Therefore, the application of water ring pumps is increasing. Install an appropriate amount of water as the working fluid in the pump body. When the impeller rotates clockwise as indicated in Figure 1, water is thrown around by the impeller. Due to the centrifugal force, the water forms a closed ring of approximately equal thickness determined by the shape of the pump chamber. The water ring pump relies on changes in the pump chamber volume to achieve suction, compression, and exhaust, therefore it belongs to the variable volume vacuum pump.
